Get ready.
At last night's Stonewall Democrats meeting, Corona Council member Hiram Monserrate said he will run for state senate against John Sabini, the club's president said.
Monserrate and Sabini are used to, ur, hard-fought campaigns.
During his 2003 re-election, Monserrate said his life was threatened by an aide to his opponent, Luis Jimenez. That aide was arrested, charged but found not guilty.
During Sabini's 2004 re-election, his campaign sent photos of the senator's car tire, which had been slashed "after a night of campaigning in Elmhurst." [updated]
