Martin Dilan has Brooklyn and Queens
It worked so well in the City Council, why not have the Brooklyn and Queens Democratic parties decide who will be the next state Senate Minority Leader?
At last night's Brooklyn Democratic Party's county dinner (pictures later today), the executive secratary of the Queens Democratic Party, Michael Reich, said the two counties will team up again.
That was great news for Brooklyn Democratic County Leader Vito Lopez, who said he's backing Martin Dilan.
Unlike the Speaker of the City Council - which has enough votes to override the mayor - the senate minority leaderhsip post has slightly less power and fewer carrots to dole out for votes.

Reich's comments, which I caught even though his mic went dead, are below.
"When Brooklyn and Queens got together, we saw that we can work together for the common good of both counties. We were able to achieve something very special, and that was the election of the speaker of the City Council. And it was then that we saw not only the integrity of your chair, but of how well he worked with other people. And I think that we will be able to share that togeter when Senator Paterson becomes lieutenant governor on selecting a leader to state senate. I think we'll see Brooklyn and Queens working together again."

When did they team up before? Is Reich saying that Brooklyn and Queens got together to screw DiBlasio and Katz and Comrie? The common good? This is the kiss of death for Malcolm Smith, Martin Dilan, et al. Both Jeff Klein and Eric Schneiderman just jumped up to a tie for first.

Is this a joke? I can think of so many others who would be better than Dilan. Maybe Vito thinks that the Senate is a joke.

I think martin dilan will make a great minority leader and if the senate becomes democratic a majority leader. He will win and that is final!

Dilan is a hard worker and will work to elect a majority. He know how to pick him battles and get along well people
