INDEPENDENT BROOKLYN The first installment of the Brooklyn Independent Cinema series includes a short film about a seventh-grade sex education class, a short documentary about an East Village leather craftswoman, and a feature film that explores loss. After the screenings, directors David Dixon, Craig Macneil, and Seth Lind participate in a question-and-answer session. Joe Pacheco curates the series. LOCAL 'LOCAL CALL' Director Arthur Joffe participates in a question-and-answer session after a screening of his film "Ne quittez pas (Local Call ...)" (2004).The comedy stars Sergio Castellitto and Michel Serrault in the story of a man who throws away his dead father's coat only to begin receiving phone calls from his father demanding that he retrieve it. It also reflects on Jewish life in France. The film is in French with English subtitles, and the discussion with the director is in English.
