MICK JAGGER WON'T GIVE UP HOTEL ROOM TO BUSH

President Bush may be the most powerful man in the world, but when it comes to pulling rank with hotel managers, even he cannot trump a Rolling Stone. Sir Mick Jagger, the 62-year-old rocker, has refused to vacate the Royal Suite and other superior accommodation for the rest of the band at the Imperial Hotel in Vienna, Austria, in June to make way for Mr. Bush, who is attending a summit conference at the same time, reported the Sun of London.

"Bush's people seemed to be under the impression that they would just hand over the suites, but there was no way Mick was going to do that," the Sun quoted a Jagger aide saying. Sir Mick, who has trashed a few hotel rooms in his time, is a fierce critic of Mr. Bush's for his part in the occupation of Iraq and he took a swipe at the president on his latest CD, "A Bigger Bang." Mr. Bush might have hoped to spend the night together with Sir Mick, but he will now have to find somewhere else to stay.

THIRD-PLACE FINISHER BACKS LANDRIEU IN NEW ORLEANS

NEW ORLEANS - The third-place finisher in the New Orleans mayoral primary decided yesterday to endorse Lieutenant Governor Mitch Landrieu over incumbent Mayor Ray Nagin in the runoff election.

Ron Forman, the head of the Audubon Nature Institute, planned to make the formal announcement yesterday afternoon. His campaign and Mr. Landrieu's confirmed the endorsement. Mr. Forman had about 17% of the overall vote Saturday, trailing Mr. Nagin's 38% and Mr. Landrieu's 29%.

MARYLAND BOY HELD IN DEATHS OF MOTHER, BROTHER

DISTRICT HEIGHTS, Md. - A 12-year-old boy described by a neighbor as having a volatile temper appeared in juvenile court yesterday on two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of his mother and younger brother. The victims were found beaten and stabbed to death Sunday morning in the family's apartment outside Washington.
