The New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission voted unanimously yesterday to designate as a landmark the Jackie Robinson Pool and Recreation Center, which stretches from 145th to 155th streets along Edgecombe and Bradhurst avenues in Manhattan. The chairman of the Landmarks Preservation Commission, Robert Tierney, noted that Robinson made his opening debut at Ebbets Field nearly 60 years ago, on April 15, 1947.

The commission also held a public hearing on other sites under consideration for landmark designation, including Morningside Park, whose preliminary plans and revision were designed by famed landscape architects Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux in the 19th century.
