Harlem's 125th Street is being named one of the ten Great Streets for 2007 by the American Planning Association. The street, which houses cultural landmarks such as the Apollo Theater, currently has a lot of development in the pipeline.
The planning association cited the $19 million Harlem Pier Project, which is expected to be completed in 2008 and will feature bicycle, pedestrian paths, a docking pier, and a recreational and fishing pier.
The area also has an approved project for distinctive street lighting and lampposts.
Other streets recognized by the association include Ocean Drive, Miami, Fl.; St. Charles Avenue, New Orleans, LA; and Bull Street, Savannah, GA.
