Secretary of State Henry Kissinger admitted he had a handicap as a speaker Monday night at the Power Line Web log's inaugural book award ceremony.

"I don't know what a blog is. I don't know how to find a blog," Mr. Kissinger said. "I use the computer to read newspapers. My assistants put them in my favorites and I click on them."

Perhaps the Power Line — a conservative political blog authored by three lawyers who met at Dartmouth — will wind up in Mr. Kissinger's favorites in the near future.

The only favorite at the event, however, was Norman Podhoretz, for writing "World War IV: The Long Struggle Against Islamofacism."

"It's not only compelling but irrefutable," Power Line blogger John Hinderaker said. "It's a must-read for all Americans and should be placed in every library across the country," the president of the Hudson Institute, Herbert London, said.

Mark Steyn shared his knowledge of Mr. Podhoretz's talent singing "Making Whoopee,' which he observed during a National Review cruise.

Mr. Podhoretz did not sing at the event; he told a joke set at the deathbed of an elderly Chasidic rabbi. He also voiced support for prospective presidential candidate Senator McCain. And he expressed being "delighted" that the award's $25,000 cash prize would be donated to Soldier's Angels, a nonprofit founded by Patti Patton-Bader to provide support to deployed troops. Volunteers Richard Lowe and Debra Levin have sent dozens of soldiers candy, punching bags, letters, and e-mail.
