Beatrix Potter Watercolor Sets Record

By Staff Reporter of the Sun | July 18, 2008

Beatrix Potter's original watercolor illustration from the final scene in her children's book "The Rabbit's Christmas Party" sold for $578,000 at Sotheby's in London Thursday. The illustration surpassed its estimate (between $80,000 and $120,000) by a factor of almost five, and is now the most expensive book illustration ever to be sold at auction.
