Brokaw To Helm 'Meet the Press' Through Election

By Staff Reporter of the Sun | June 23, 2008

Veteran NBC newsman Tom Brokaw is filling in as host of "Meet the Press," a role left vacant by the death of Tim Russert, and will continue to moderate the show through the November presidential election, the network announced Sunday.

Mr. Brokaw retired as anchor of "NBC Nightly News" in 2004, after 21 years as the face of the program. A close friend of Russert, Mr. Brokaw has become a more regular presence on television this year as a political analyst for MSNBC, and he delivered the on-air announcement of Russert's death on NBC last Friday.
