Another day, another too-early poll. But, it's still an interesting one.

The latest Rasmussen poll — with 590 Likely Republican Primary Voters conducted March 26-29, 2007 — shows Rudy Giuliani down 9 percentage points from last week, and below 30% for the first time this year. John McCain, Newt Gingrich, and Mitt Romney have all essentially held steady from last week.

This was Mr. Thompson's first week in the poll. So, given Mr. Giuliani's sharp drop, it looks clear that the former Tennessee senator is cutting into some of the former mayor's support.

Different polls, of course, have been telling different stories on this front. A national Gallup poll showed something similar, though it also showed Mr. Romney taking a sizable hit. State-level polls, such as in Iowa and Ohio, have shown Mr. Thompson cutting Mr. Gingrich's support in half, while leaving much of the rest of the field in tact.

It's something to watch. And we'll be watching.
