Further to my post earlier about Mitt Romney risking alienating Jeb Bush (whose aides had been lining up behind Mr. Romney)...
ABC News reports that Jeb Bush has told a Florida GOP activist he is "disappointed" with Mr. Romney for attacking the immigration bill. What's more, it's not just Jeb who's at issue here. Jeb's successor, Governor Crist, supports the immigration bill, as does Senator Martinez of Florida, a Cuban immigrant, a Republican, and chairman of the Republican National Committee. Mr. Martinez said on CNN Sunday that the immigration bill "could be the saving of the Republican Party, frankly."
Could an immigrant-hugger like Jeb stay on Mr. Romney's shortlist for VP? We'll find out... Meanwhile, Rudy Giuliani is heavily favored in Florida no matter what happens on immigration.
