Obama Backs Charter Schools

At an AFL-CIO forum in New Jersey, Senator Obama of Illinois made a point of noting that he supports charter schools.
It wasn't exactly a profiles in courage moment, though, despite the headline his hometown paper chose. Mr. Obama opposes school vouchers and couches his support for charter schools in the rhetoric of "innovation" and "best practices" as opposed to what's actually meaningful about charter schools: competition and choice.
