Thompson: Crossover Appeal?

Well, it is a fellow Tennessean, but still interesting:

Gov. Phil Bredesen, a Democrat, was asked about a prospective Thompson candidacy Wednesday.

"I certainly think Fred Thompson is the kind of person who ought to be stepping forward and making himself available for this," said Bredesen, describing Thompson as "a fine, estimable man."

"I am a Democrat, obviously, and barring some disaster in my party, I'll probably be supporting the Democratic nominee. But he's a fine fellow and would be a great addition to the field," Bredesen said.

Of course, Mr. Thompson is now a resident of Virginia.
