UPDATE: 'pretty clear that Fred is going to be leaving the cast'

It's not often I get to link to Starpulse.com. So I'm going to now.
According to NBC's top entertainment executive, Kevin Reilly, "It's pretty clear that Fred [Thompson] is going to be leaving the cast of the show no matter what."
According to the AP story:
Even if Thompson were to decide against a candidacy and wanted to stay on "Law & Order," the timing may be tough. Many television series, including "Law & Order," will be going into production earlier than usual in coming months to stockpile episodes in the event of a strike by writers later this fall, Reilly said.
Just when does production start? "Law & Order" and political junkies want to know. (This writer happens to be both).
Meanwhile, the pro-life community is buzzing about Mr. Thompson getting in.
