UPDATE: Sharpton Clarifies Statement on Mormons

Al Sharpton now claims that his comment that "those that really believe in God will defeat" Mitt Romney, "the one Mormon running for office," was meant to contrast himself with atheist Christopher Hitchens (whom he was debating) not Mormons.
Mr. Sharpton's phrasing makes that interpretation seem pretty odd to me (what's with the "really"? — Hitchens doesn't believe in God at all). But those who are interested can listen to the whole debate here.
