Don't miss the Sun's coverage this morning of Michael Bloomberg ditching the GOP.
I don't have much to add, except to say that if he thinks he can run for president and win as an Independent he's delusional.
As to how it would affect the general election ... The earliest of early polling shows him pulling from the Republicans and helping the Democrats. This doesn't make sense from an issues perspective — his entire agenda is do-gooder liberalism (smoking ban, transfat ban, environmentalism). But from a "Democrats are dead-set on winning, Republicans are adrift" perspective, I suppose anything's possible.
A more interesting move would be to run in the Democratic primary. Keep the parties-are-evil rhetoric, and try to knock off Hillary. He'd have a better shot at doing that and then going on to win the general than of winning the general as an Independent.
But, really, God bless him. It's something other than a new poll to write about. Cheers and goodnight.
