Here's the new NBC/WSJ poll:
Giuliani: 29% Thompson: 20% McCain: 14% Romney: 14%
The poll also shows presidential and congressional approval plummeting. Possibly because of Iraq (OK, almost certainly because of Iraq), this all seems to be benefiting the Democrats — Hilary Clinton and Barack Obama now have the upper hand in potential general-election match-ups against Messrs. Giuliani and Thompson. This is a reverse from earlier this year, when Mr. Giuliani beat all comers.
The poll also shows Mrs. Clinton with a solid lead over her two main rivals:
Clinton: 39% Obama: 25% Edwards: 15%
The Democratic race, it seems, has largely solidified with Mrs. Clinton in a commanding lead. The Republican race, despite Mr. Giuliani's lead, remains quite fluid.
