Senator Thomas of Wyoming, a conservative Republican who had served his state for three terms, died this evening, at the age of 74, from leukemia.

Governor Freudenthal of Wyoming, a Democrat, will appoint a successor from one of three finalists chosen by the state Republican party.

The senator's Web site, as of this writing, hasn't been updated to reflect the sad news. But you can read a biography of him here.
