Thompson and Abortion

I should have pointed this one out over the weekend...
In this piece, The Tennessean takes the most thorough look yet at Mr. Thompson's views on abortion. Suffice it to say, he's no pro-lifer's dream — opposing Roe but also opposing a "human-life amendment" to the Constitution.
His voting record in Congress was quite consistently pro-life — in that he voted on what pro-life groups designated as the pro-life side — but he's also what might be called mildly pro-choice, in that he often says that he wants to leave the abortion question to the states and that he wouldn't make abortion illegal.
