Interior West: Patience, Grasshopper

The Denver Post laments that the interior West has yet to become a battleground in the 2008 election. As the originator of all this interior West talk, let me say a few short words in its defense...
It has nothing to do with the primaries. The interior West will be a battleground in the general election, not the primaries.
The only sense in which western states will come to play a serious role in the primaries is to the extent that the Nevada caucus is treated seriously and to the extent that western states join the February 5, 2008, super-primary.
