A new poll out of North Carolina has Rudy Giuliani tied with Fred Thompson in the GOP primary. Previous polls have had Mr. Giuliani in the lead — but they didn't include Mr. Thompson.
Civitas Institute poll conducted by Tel Opinion Research (R). June 13-15, 2007. N=800 active voters statewide. MoE ± 3.7 (for all active voters).
Giuliani: 24% Thompson: 24% McCain: 16% Romney: 6%
This is interesting because one might actually expect Mr. Thompson — the southern candidate — to bolt into the lead in North Carolina. He's already done so, in some polls, in South Carolina. So, it's interesting that Rudy's support has barely dipped with Mr. Thompson joining the race. (Mr. Thompson's votes here would seem to come mostly from John McCain).
