Could John McCain lose his home state in the GOP primary? Well, given that the Arizona primary takes place on February 26, chances are he won't even be in the race by then. But a new poll from Arizona State University shows he's got some close competition:
(change since April listed in parentheses)
McCain: 24% (-8) Romney: 19% (+8) Giuliani: 18% (-9) Thompson: 17% (+11)
Those are some pretty wild swings in support. But the McCain decline, the Rudy decline, and the Thompson surge roughly mirror what's happened nationally. Except, in this case, Mr. McCain started out the prohibitive frontrunner, as opposed to Mr. Giuliani.
