Pity New York City

Mitt Romney was up with a radio ad this morning decrying "cities like Newark, San Francisco and New York City that adopt sanctuary policies." Now, on his non-campaign blog, Fred Thompson has launched his own attack on Gotham.

In the post, Mr. Thompson decries the state of the Second Amendment in our fair city (can't say that I blame him). And he includes this volley:

Now, the same activist federal judge from Brooklyn who provided Mayor Giuliani's administration with the legal ruling it sought to sue gun makers, has done it again. Last week, he created a bizarre justification to allow New York City to sue out-of-state gun stores that sold guns that somehow ended up in criminal hands in the Big Apple.
Hold on... What does Mayor Giuliani have to do with... Oh... I see.

Some folks have argued for months that Mr. Giuliani's campaign would fall apart on contact with sunlight. It looks like his opponents think it's going to take a little more elbow grease.

UPDATE I (3:07 p.m.): A Giuliani aide fires back: "Clearly they're attacking Mayor Giuliani because he's the front-runner. The news here is the first 527 attack is from Fred Thompson and not George Soros, and Governor Romney's ad conveniently forgets that his trooper plan that never took effect did absolutely nothing to cut down on the number of illegals working in his yard."
