RCP has a roundup of the Democratic candidates' responses to the resignation of Alberto Gonzales as attorney general (nothing too shocking or juicy).
So far, the Republican candidates have yet to issue statements.
A press spokesman for John McCain says there will be no campaign statement.
A press spokesman for Rudy Giuliani says one is on its way, but it has yet to arrive.
No word from Mitt Romney's camp or Fred Thompson's camp.
UPDATE I (3:03 p.m.): The Giuliani camp puts out a statement: "Judge Gonzales served his nation honorably and I wish him well in the next phase of his career."
UPDATE II (4:05 p.m.): Nothing official from the Thompson campaign, but the former senator was asked about it on the non-campaign trail. From the AP:
Questioned about the resignation of Alberto Gonzales, Thompson said the attorney general's enemies were piling on and he didn't think Gonzales did anything wrong. But Thompson said Gonzales didn't handle the situation very well.
"It was mishandled," Thompson said. "He doesn't have a monopoly on that in Washington."
