Tomorrow, South Carolina Republican Party Chairman Katon Dawson is expected to announce that he is moving the party's primary date (currently set for February 2) up ahead of Florida's scheduled date of January 29.

Mr. Dawson will make the announcement in New Hampshire, alongside New Hampshire's Secretary of State Bill Gardner, who sets that state's date for both parties, now tentatively January 22. It's unclear if both states will be moving their dates at the same time, or if New Hampshire will bide its time.

All speculation is meaningless until South Carolina gives its actual date — but, if it moves significantly earlier than January 29th, that's likely to push New Hampshire into very early January, and that means that Iowa could be forced into December of 2007. Pre-Christmas caucuses.
