Spike Lee Talks Tough About Clinton

New York filmmaker and Barack Obama supporter Spike Lee is talking tough about Senator Clinton, who speaks tonight at the Democratic National Convention.
"I hope that Senator Clinton from the great state of New York, "the Empire State", gets her folks in line," Mr. Lee said. "Here's how I look at it: If the people who support Hillary vote McCain, I don't think they ever believed in Hillary Clinton. If you believe in Hillary Clinton and what she stands for, how could you vote for John McCain?"
Mr. Lee used a sports analogy from his youth to describe supporters of Mrs. Clinton who are threatening to vote for Mr. McCain. "That reminds me of growing up in Brooklyn, New York, on our block, it's like the kid who gets mad so he takes the football away so no one can play," Mr. Lee said. "I hope she does the right thing. I hope she will."
The director of "Do the Right Thing" also employed another sports reference in trying to temper his own excitement about Mr. Obama, the 2008 Super Bowl. "I'd caution it's not time for celebrating yet, dancing in the end zone like it's a done deal," Mr. Lee said. "Let's not be like the New England Patriots. What were they 18 and 0? They thought they'd make history, so they didn't."
