New York is one of the most philanthropic cities in the countries so it's odd how little you hear about charitable activity on the holiday. I do understand the impulse to take a break: it's nice to have a holiday where everyone gets to focus on family, food, and pretty colors in the sky. But I also can't think of a better holiday to do all that and give back some. Lucky for me I found the party that combined both: One of the most patriotic celebrations of Independence Day in the city was organized by CitiStorage at its headquarters on the Williamsburg waterfront. This was a celebration of a successful entrepreneur giving back to his community -- to his employees and their families, and also to the neighborhood public school PS 132. Read more today in the Sun where you'll find photos of CitiStorage's founder, Norman Brodsky, his daughter Beth, Marvin and Leah James, Rhonda Barad of the Simon Wiesenthal Center, Jay Greenberg of Inc. Magazine (where Mr. Brodsky writes a column), and more.
