At Cheim & Read
In today's Sun, Arts & Letters section, you'll find my photo essay from opening night of the Armory Show at Pier 94. The images that appear in this posting are all from last night's event.
The best story I heard at Pier 94 was from Lisa Dennison and Jennifer Stockman, the director and chairwoman of the Guggenheim, respectively. They both attended the cannibalism dinner at Christie's Wednesday, organized by the auction house's co-head of post-war and contemporary art, Amy Cappellazzo. The evening was conceived by Jim Shaw as a take-off of Judy Chicago's "The Dinner Party" and featured waiters in plaid shirts, camping-style tin dinner plates and silverware on a loop, and edible menus that looked like flesh. Ms. Dennison had the beef. "Luckily they had a vegetarian entree for me," Ms. Stockman said.
Today's Out & About, meanwhile, covers the event Wednesday for the Art Show held at the Armory on Park Avenue: "Pretty Views for Henry Street"
