Bottomless Closet New York City provides 1,000 women annually with business clothing, interview skills, and career development support. At its annual gala on May 7 at the Marriott Marquis, 550 guests gathered to celebrate the organization's 10th anniversary, with about 20 of the organization's clients saluted on stage. We only wish they'd been asked to not just stand, but also speak about their experiences. Instead we heard some kind words from several notable women. Here are some of the highlights:

I know how important self confidence is to success. Intelligence is one thing, self confidence is another. That's what Bottomless Closet gives to women. This organization is not about charity, it's about giving women tools to go into the workforce.
-Shelly Lazarus, chairman, Ogilvy & Mather Worldwide, honoree

It's about role models: showing women what they can accomplish regardless of where they come from.
-Perri Peltz, first-year medical school student, former television journalist, emcee

My eight year old Sophia is a lovely kid, an eight year old going on 30. She's learning how to eye roll, and she likes to remind me a lot that she's the only one in her class who doesn't have an iPhone. But when took her with me to see the Bottomless Closet offices, she asked, 'What does bottomless closet mean?" So I explained that when the handbags here are all gone, they'll put out more, and the same goes with the shoes and the suits. And she thought about that and said: "It's like when someone loves you and you go back for refills and they never run out."
-Soledad O'Brien, CNN anchor and special correspondent, keynote speaker
