Hats off to the local newspaper in Louisville, Kentucky, the Courier-Journal, for its fun, up-to-the-minute fashion coverage of the Derby. Check out on the scene reporters snapping and commenting, and once you're on the site, there's so much more, including a celebrity red carpet slideshow with some reality show familiar faces, LeAnn Rimes, and our favorite dresser: a member of the Supremes. And there's a fashion summary by a former colleague of mine, Christine Fellingham (we worked together at Glamour); her call: no signs of the recession at this Derby.
Remember how we all were in awe of Aretha Franklin's bow-tie hat (made in Detroit, by the way)... well hats are back (for one, they provide good cover when you're trying to shop and splurge without being noticed). We'll be bringing you New York's best hat parade on Wednesday at the Central Park Conservancy Frederick Law Olmsted Luncheon, and we bet most of them will be made in New York.
Now sit back and have a Mint Julep.
