The newly opened SoHo boutique Kisan at 125 Greene Street held a party to fete one of its key labels: Sonia Rykiel.

Though the brand doesn't get as much buzz in America as it does in Europe, the owners of Kisan wanted it "just because we love it," Paris-born owner Olivier Bremond said. He and his Icelandic wife Thorunn opened their first shop in Reykjavik and always wanted to expand to New York.

The shop offers children's toys and clothes, women's jewelry and accessories, and items for the home, as well as a large selection of accessories and clothes from the Rykiel Fall 2008 collection.

"We wanted to create a shop where you could buy a $5 notebook in the same place as a $2,500 dress. That's very New York. Its not like that in Paris," Mr Bremond said.
