'No Danger of Work Stoppage on Broadway,' Mayor Says
Mayor Bloomberg said yesterday he feels for the next month or so that there is "no danger of a work stoppage or lockout on Broadway," despite the union's unanimous vote Sunday to authorize a strike and the theaters imposing portions of their final contract yesterday.
He added he is willing to help the Broadway theaters and their stagehands' union in negotiations for a final contract, an offer the union has "respectfully declined" and one the League of American Theaters and Producers said it is interested in pursuing.
