Yahoo Settles Lawsuit With Journalists' Families
Yahoo Inc. yesterday settled a lawsuit with the families of two Chinese journalists who were jailed after the Internet giant provided information to authorities about their online activities. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The settlement comes one week after two Yahoo executives were derided as moral "pygmies" during a U.S. congressional hearing. The two dissidents' families sued Yahoo earlier this year after Yahoo HK, the California company's Hong Kong unit, allegedly gave Chinese officials pro-democracy e-mails. Yahoo has denied responsibility and has said it was merely complying with Chinese laws in handing over the emails.
