MTV Goes Broadway With ‘Blonde'

By ERICA ORDEN | September 11, 2007

It started in the pages of a book, jumped to the big screen, moved to Broadway, and now it's set for the small tube. The story of Elle Woods, who transforms from a sorority sister to a Harvard Law School student, will receive its fourth incarnation when MTV airs "Legally Blonde the Musical" — the Broadway show that is based on the film "Legally Blonde," which is based on a novel by Amanda Brown — in a special on September 29. The program, which will be executed with the consultation of the musical's director and choreographer, Jerry Mitchell, will include the musical in its entirety, backstage footage of the cast, and interviews with audience members. The network, which regularly features pop music coverage and reality TV shows, has never before broadcast a Broadway musical.
