Just a correction to Mr. Chayes' ending comment on Jose Reyes. I was one of the homeless decoys riding a southbound train to take up my post at Penn Station when Mr. Reyes boarded and requested spare change. Contrary to the writer's comment that "the $75-a-night fake homeless people couldn't spare a dime," my partner and I both gave money. Mr. Chayes noticed the exchange and jotted something in his notebook at the time. Also, I have donated my earnings from that night to a homeless services organization. The tone of his article suggested that we were only in it for the money, and that is absurd and untrue. Please encourage Mr. Chayes to get the facts straight before writing such an offensive article.
Regards,
Patty O.
