in response to reader comment: So you want to live in America huh?

Hear ye! Hear ye! Let's get this straight once and for all about George Washington and his slaves. And while we're on the subject every other founding father who owned human chattles. Washington, Jefferson, FRanklin, Adams, etc. were all English subjects before they were founding fathers. They were born here in what is now the United States of America but was then the English colonies of America. As English colonies they were under the jurisdiction of the English crown. None of the founding fathers could have freed any of their slaves (human chattles) because slaves, under English law, passed with the property title/mortgague when a property was sold. One could not be sold without the other. Not to mention that slavery had existed for thousands of years throughout the world. When one African village or tribe fought another the looser became the winner's slaves and were usually sold to third parties as the winner preferred cash to the expense of maintining slaves. Blacks sold blacks to Arabs, who promptly castrated the males to avoid tainting their blood lines and had the women work in their households and raped them at will. But remember...first and foremost, blacks sold blacks. Not realizing this or registering this is the initial falacy of black rage. Blacks continued to be sold by blacks in the Dominican Republic up until the beginning of the 19th Century. British colonial free blacks owned black slaves here in North America. Liberal ranters of today ignore the foundations of slavery in America and create racist hate where a clear understanding of the true facts would help to difuse their rage. But, they seek the power that is spawned by rage and care not for the truth. It wasn't until America was freed of the yoke of British law that we could begin to start slowing down the machinery of slavery. But by then, of course, the economy of the entir South depended on cheap labor. To have freed all of the slaves would have been to make them homeless and destitute and a great many slaves were very much a part of their owners families. This is a very complicated history but one that should be studied and understood vs. ranted over.
