The scenario begs the question - why? What would be success? This sounds like a deepening of our current entanglement with even less clear of an end. The assumption is that Iranians would react in a rational manner and decide to sue for peace and forgo nuclear weapons? Based on our experience in the region this seems very naive to me. Instead, they seem likely to fight to the last man and call in their allies to go on the offensive against U.S. interests and allies in the region. This could lead to an immediate direct attack on Israel that Israel seems to think this will help to avoid. I can only see this conflict lasting until we give up - because America will give up before Iran. It's their home. It's a far off country to us. The American public will not support this and those who launch it will lose their power and influence here.
