A $1.5 Billion Vision For Coney Island

Submitted by Teri, Feb 6, 2007 01:08

This just can't be happening. I have decided to use astroland as the bulk of a photography project for my black and white class. And as the weeks go bye and I go visit every week it is becoming more apparent that this is one part of New York City that I do not wish to see leave or change. walking the boardwalk brings back fond memories. Memories that i hoped to share with my children one day. only now these memories will never be shared in the way i hoped they would. I wish that there was something we new yorkers could do to save it.
In response to mark bray's comment as a tourist you see it as a rundown place. but to those of us who have fond memories of summers spent there you have no idea what this means to us. I do not wish to see large high rise apartments and hotels that will change a community forever to a place that you can only afford to go to once a year. Coney Island is a place that you can visit when you only have a few dollars to spend. A day spent there was so magical to me. words just cannot express what it means to me.

I'd hate to have a part of my history taken away from me....
