"The Government" is US--as in "we, the people," and WE can manage OUR money better than the insurance companies. YES, single-payer is US! The current insurance industry is an overpriced paymaster service, operating at 30% overhead. We can do it at 3% overhead.

Single payer health care is like collectively paying for water utilities, or services like the Fire Department, and I can tell you right now my taxes wouldn't go up anywhere near the amount I'm currently paying for insurance. I can't wait to be relieved of the current "tax" I'm currently paying to the insurance company.
