Fairway's Foie Gras Sign Irks Upper West Side Activists

I applaud Fairway for taking down its misleading sign and also understand its position about allowing their customers to make informed decisions. However, I question the ability of anyone to continue to consume foie gras once they've witnessed the inhumane practice of shoving a metal rod down the throat of a duck or goose and force-feeding it with enormous quantities of food several times a day. This practice causes their livers to swell up to 10 times their normal size. The birds have difficulty standing, walking and even breathing, and many die during the grueling force-feeding process. Let's educate consumers about this horrific practice and see if they are still savvy about theiri food choices. With so many delicious cruelty-free food choices that exist today why engage in this barbaric practice? It is cruel and inhumane.
