John, you right on! Two things here. One, with Collins' worst PER in the NBA--he should no longer be in the NBA. If the Nets can buy out Motombo's contract for 30 mil, you certainly can buy out Collins'. Two, since we're not going to make the playoffs, you have to plan for next year and that means building the young players' confidence like Boone and Adams, etc..
