A Defining Moment on Health Care?

Submitted by Nancy, Feb 8, 2007 14:42

President Bush spoke about individuals buying their own insurance, for affordability, etc. but what was NOT addressed in any way are those who fall between the cracks. I have a 34 year old son who is morbidly obese, has ITP, has had his spleen removed, two hernias, knee surgery and is unemployed. He does not qualify for Medicaid and probably not for Social Security because his brain still works! He is unable to get an individual policy because he is considered UNINSURABLE. Do we just let these people die or do we get some help for them? Jobs aren't plentifuly for a morbidly obese person with restrictions. So how does he get insurance?? Let's address this problem as well.
