Governor Hits ‘A Wall' With Legislature

Submitted by Joel A. Robinson, Feb 9, 2007 07:42

A major source of graft in many legislatures in the U.S. (both Federal and State) is the money paid indirectly to key leaders such as Bruno and Silver. The money is paid indirectly when business from individuals and corporations that have business before the government are directed to law firms where these "leaders" have a vested interest. It is the same principal that the government went after Al Capone who claimed that he wasn't earning enough money to pay taxes but lived at a high lavish level.

I always marvel at how men earning $65,000 a year and less live at a level that is totally out of proportion to their income.

Spitzter should announce a plan to have all elected officials in State Government investigated (including Bruno and Silver) to bring integrity back to NY State government. This shot across the bow will send the right message that the legislature must serve the interests of the people and not their personal bank accounts. It is one of the most sordid aspects of the legal profession where ethics often takes a back seat to money.
