A Myth Of Two Cities

Submitted by Barbara Correa, Feb 10, 2007 16:48

I grew up in Orange County, CA. Sorry, The OC is just grammatically wrong. Anyway, I spent 10 years in Manhattan. But in all my travels, including Rio, Europe etc., I've always felt that L.A. is so different from most places, and so different from NY that it's impossible to compare it. I actually prefer NY for living. But since my family and roots are here, I'm stuck in L.A., for better or worse. You can say that NY is unique and it certainly is. Even among the greatest cities in Europe, NY stands out for its irrepressible energy. L.A. is another planet - you can't really call it a city. A lot of it is hideously ugly. But the truth is, it really does always come back to the weather. Nothing much can beat a winter Santa Ana windstorm. Makes you feel wild and sexy like nothing else!
