Senator Obama:

Please, no criticism no matter how warranted of Hillary Clinton. I have limited regard for New York's junior senator and even less for her husband, the former president. The only way I see myself voting for her in 2008 will be if she is running against Rudolph Giuliani. However, I did not intend to vote for her in 2000, but in the end constantly escalating attacks from Republican opponent Rick Lazio impelled me to cross my fingers and cast a vote for Mrs. Clinton.

Your image will not be enhanced by even the mildest criticism of Mrs. Clinton. People will vote for you largely because of the superstar qualities you possess, but these could be frayed through even modest negative campaigning, no matter how accurate.

Your traits appear to inspire. I hope you will keep them that way.

George N. Spitz
