Race is an issue in this election as being a woman will be for Sen Clinton and being a Mormon will be for Gov Romney and as it was for Jack Kennedy in 1960.
If you're not a white Anglo-Saxon Protestant male as most of our Presidents have been, differences count.
Being against any of the above candidates could be a product of bigotry but not necessarily.
Sen Obama has to come uo with something besides charm and being the first black candidate.
A good start would be a clear, frank statement on Iraq,Iran but much more importantly on how we are to win an asymmetrical war, i.e., a war based on terror, deception and disinformation, against an opponent who has said that it wants to destroy us and means it (see 9/11/01).
No Democrat has done this yet. Nancy Pelosi has even demonstrated her ignorance of the Middle East situation by calling it "a problem", not "a war". Illegal Immigration is a problem; the Middle East is and has been a war since 1979.
At some point Sen Obama has to put his cards on the table.
