Brees Injury Highlights Pro Bowl's Worthlessness
in response to reader comment: Dead wrong about value of Pro Bowl

Submitted by PC, Feb 13, 2007 14:49

Oh, please. Players look forward to the game?? If you paid attention, you'd have noticed that a majority of players in the Pro Bowl appeared to be moving at half-speed. Understandably so in such a meaningless exercise. There's no glory in this vanilla exhibition. Modified rules, rudimentary schemes, wholesale substituting. The level of excitement is nil and incredibly boring. The glory stems from being chosen as best among your peers based on play during the regular season (OK , for some reason, the last two games don't count). The game is merely a money-generator for the league/network and maybe Hawaii.

Wives & families don't look forward to the game. They look forward to a vacation in Hawaii, duh. Players look forward to the recognition and an easy little paycheck. Have this game played in Lubbock, TX for free and see how many no-shows there are. (no slam at Lubbock intended).
