The earth has been warmer than it is now. 800 to a 1000 years ago there was warming that exceeded that which we are experiencing now. And, as I stated below, how can we take seriously predictions by climatologists and meteorologists of what temperatures will be 100 years from now, when they can't even predict the weather next week?

The hysteria of global warming fanatics (a normally reasonable Ellen Goodman compared skeptics to holocaust deniers) suggests an agenda that goes beyond a mere concern for good science. The release of the policy-makers report before the actual scientific report likewise suggests that politics, and the ability of politicians to use the report to enhance their control over economic activity, are contributing to the Chicken Little chorus of doom.

I recommend you read the work of Richard Lindzen, a professor at MIT. He's actually on the IPCC panel.
