I enjoyed the last part of this article, describing a pastoral view out over the verrazano, but one thing was missing from this , the roar of the the eight lanes of traffic right beneth shore road that is the belt parkway. Moses built roads for idea that driving was some sort of pleasure filled activity, an amusment and that is why his road run through some of the city's most picturesque settings. But driving in the City is rarely anything resembling a pleasure and the views from the Belt is often that of the Honda in front of you in the traffic jam. In addition to the creation of more traffic the city Moses also despolied some of the city most beutiful natural settings( abiet many in parks that he created) including Inwood Park, Van Cortland Park and cutting off the Hudson waterfront to all new yorkers who didn't happen to be seated in an automoblie.
