The premise "knowing and having a better understanding of one another that has helped bridge the gap in different cultures and religions" presumes that both parties are interested in and willing to gain a better understanding of the other.
There is nothing so far that has led me to believe this is a two sided cooperative effort. The world would be a better place if we called spade a spade.
